INTO THE WOODS

go into the dark forest, find:
worlds upon worlds within worlds!
the ants have a world,
as do the birds,
as do the mushrooms,
and so on ad infinitum,
a recursive mirror of beings.

life thrives in caves
and flourishes in cities.
every opening finds its hermit crab.
a compost pile puts sweetness in the fruit.
a taut string rings the purest song.

to confront a living being
be open, curious, careful, perceptive,
three feet on the ground,
three eyes on the prowl.

animality is magick
