Apollo was hitting on Cassandra and she blew him off.

no one would ever believe her.

So what happened?
Cassandra told people what was coming,
but
– so many people always predict this and that!
May as well believe em none! –
said people.
The real doom
couldn’t compete
with the faux doom
in the daily feed.
What Cassandra saw, came to pass.
The people were taken by surprise.
The city fell to its besiegers.
Soldiers raped and looted and burned.
and the game is over –
and Cassandra is a prophet
in her afterlife.
