It is designed so great wealth always gets richer,
\nand poverty is a torture of a thousand cuts.<\/p>\n
We people in between these extremes
\nare pulled and pushed from above and below.<\/p>\n
We strive to climb, but often find
\nthe guarded gates of class and culture.<\/p>\n
We struggle not to fall into poverty.
\nEverybody kicks you when you’re down.<\/p>\n
All our striving and struggling
\nfeeds us, but moreso feeds the billionaires.<\/p>\n
Bankers are given power to conjure money out of thin air,
\nto loan it out and demand it back, with interest.<\/p>\n
Thus they turn the rich life force of the land and the people
\ninto numbers by which they rule the world.<\/p>\n
Why do only those particular people, those bankers, have that power?
\nI thought we got rid of the kings!<\/p>\n
And why does so much money still flow
\nto those who just take things by force?<\/p>\n
Crime pays better than anything,
\nif you own the law and the banks.<\/p>\n
Could there be a different kind of money,
\narising in the people,
\nnot decreed from on high by a fancy suit?<\/p>\n
A currency of trust and joy?<\/p>\n
